THE RACES COME TO THE EMCC TO CELEBRATE CHILDLINE'S 20TH BIRTHDAY
On Monday 11th December the East Midlands Conference Centre will be holding an event to help celebrate ChildLine's 20th Birthday.
The event will be a very special occasion and will help raise money for ChildLine and get them a step nearer the £20 million target for fundraising this year.
There will be a very special horse racing theme to the evening with virtual racing, offering the opportunity to place real bets. This will be taking place in the newly refurbished conference theatre as the highlight of the evening. This will all be supported by a sumptuous meal prepared by the EMCC's award winning chefs. The night will be closed with an auction with some fantastic prizes on offer. Tickets will be on sale from late October costing £20 with all the money going to ChildLine. Tables of 12 will be available as will individual tickets.
The event has been organised at no cost to ChildLine, meaning that all the money raised on the night will go straight into helping support ChildLine.
Further information is available at the event website www.childlineracenight.co.uk

REGIONS BUSINESSES SAMPLE EMCC'S GALLERY
The East Midlands Conference Centre successfully staged a launch event to showcase the sumptuous new menu on offer in its Gallery meeting rooms. Representatives drawn from the region's public and private sector organisations were present at the event, where they were also given the chance to win a rather sporting prize!
The Gallery's meeting space will be available as part of a new day delegate package, at a cost of £35 per person plus VAT.
The Gallery is housed on the first floor of the two-storey Atrium, the imposing glass-covered extension to the EMCC's main building. Ideal for smaller meetings and presentations, it is composed of three rooms, each complete with retractable walls to suit the needs of individual events. All rooms are also installed with cutting edge media presentation equipment.
Invitees were given a unique opportunity to sample the menu options available as part of the day delegate package, and were also able to take advantage of guided tours lead my members of the EMCC team, to demonstrate the Gallery's extensive facilities.
Kirstie Danzey, Marketing Manager commented, “Although a number of regional businesses regularly book the Gallery for smaller meetings, many remain unaware that we are able to accommodate groups from 20 to 60 for board meetings, training projects and seminars, so it was great to get them on site to view the Gallery for themselves.
“We have long been acting as a base for larger businesses in the region, and through the Gallery and our new day delegate package, we will be concentrating on providing this service for smaller organisations as well.”
Still the only purpose built conference centre in the East Midlands , the EMCC can cater for meetings and events from 10 to 850 guests. The venue also works closely with its sister brand the University of Nottingham Conference Centre which can accommodate over 3,000 guests overnight in its bedroom which become available over vacation period.

EMCC CELEBRATES WITH BIRTHDAY BASH
The East Midlands Conference Centre celebrated its 20 th anniversary on Monday 21 st November with a lavish birthday party which showcased fabulous fireworks, a sumptuous selection of food and a rather familiar DeLorean car!
Over 250 guests were treated to a ‘Back to the Future' theme for the evening- the biggest-selling film from the year of EMCC's birth, complete with a DeLorean, special cocktails, quite a number of mad professors and music that took everyone back to the 80's.
Malcolm Youngson, Director of Nottingham Hospitality, the University's largest department, and a past manager of the EMCC, delivered a speech to all toasting both the past and future of the venue,
“When the EMCC opened in 1985, it was the only purpose built conference centre in the region, and I am delighted to say this is still the case today. We have been proud to act as an ambassador for the East Midlands over the past 20 years and welcome delegates to the region with a service that is second to none.
The EMCC's success has depended on the quality of its offer, facilities and location, but most importantly on the staff here who have provided and continue to provide an unrivalled level of service.
Tonight is about celebrating the last twenty years, but it is also about looking forward to the future successes of the EMCC.”
The EMCC's birthday event also helped to raise over £2000 for charity, ChildLine, which will be celebrating its 20 th anniversary next year.
Money was raised through the sale of raffle tickets on the night, and winners were called up to collect their prizes which included champagne, a trip to Dublin , and dinner at Nottingham 's prestigious Harts restaurant.
The official 20 th anniversary event signals the end of what has been an intensely exciting and poignant year for the venue. A £1.6m investment to the EMCC was recently announced, with funds focusing on its kitchen facilities and conference theatre to extend its already impressive service offer.

EMCC STRIKES GOLD
The East Midlands Conference Centre has scooped the coveted gold award in the category of Business Tourism in the exciting regional final of the Enjoy England Excellence Awards.
The competition, organised by East Midlands Tourism, rewards the cream of the region's tourism providers across 15 categories, including Large Visitor Attraction, Best Tourism Experience and Self Catering Holiday, and culminated with an awards finale at Leicester 's Athena.
Kirstie Danzey, Marketing Manager at the EMCC commented, “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award. The EMCC has always been proud to fly the flag for the East Midlands and act as a base for businesses in the area.
“Being officially recognised for our services to Business Tourism in a competition so crucial to the region is something that the whole team at the EMCC are very proud of.”
The award adds to the EMCC's already poignant, yet intensely exciting year. 2005 not only marks the venue's 20 th anniversary, but also the announcement of a £1.6m investment programme, set to upgrade and further extend the EMCC's already impressive service offer.
As a winner of the Enjoy England Excellence Awards regional heat, the EMCC will go on to compete at the awards' national final, being held at Madame Tussauds in April 2006. Here, it will go head to head with tourism greats from across the country and compete to bring the coveted national Business Tourism award home to the East Midlands .
